'Nail Art' encompasses a huge array of techniques & effects, used to reflect style & express personality with your nails! From simple French Tip designs in the noughties to the spectacular Kawaii-inspired 3D designs of the early teenies, nail art is limited only to the creator's imagination! This season, nail art is still as strong as ever, paired with softer polish shades & the super hot Ballerina & Stiletto shapes, so we've compiled a selection of our favourite trends right now, inspired by catwalk looks, celebrity style & of course our clients!
GEOMETRIC & AZTEC
These styles continue to be popular (See two pictures above), although last year's bright colour-clashing versions have been pared down this year with nude & pastel shades and gorgeous glitters. A creative combo of straight lines & basic shapes, these styles are perfect as an accent nail, with the other nails painted a block colour. Suitable for natural nails or extensions, more intricate designs can be created by your nail technician, but there's also lots of online tutorials for simple versions if you fancy some nail DIY!
This year's hottest hair trend has also been a firm fave for nails! Whether it's elegant nude shades or bold brights, this is a look best created with Shellac or Acrylic as ordinary polish versions can be very messy!
GLITTER!
If you're looking for a simple but effective way to spice up a plain colour, glitter offers a multitude of options that are guaranteed to add the wow factor. Whether you opt for a statement accent nail, a sparkling topcoat or full coverage glitter for all-out glamour, glitter is the perfect user-friendly product to experiment with.
Last but not least is the Chrome trend which is suddenly everywhere! Move over traditional metallic polishes, make way for mirror finish pigments creating super-reflective results! So fresh, I haven't even received my pots yet (they are on the way though!) so this example was borrowed from pinterest
So these are the 4 main trends that seem to be dominating the world of nails right now, but ultimately, like all forms of fashion, your nails should reflect you & your style & creativity - so don't shy away from trying something new in the salon or at home!
